Hong Kong (8 Jun- 15 Jun' 09) Overall
Monday, January 4, 2010 11:38 PM
Haha.. I was too lazy to write out what happened every single day so I intend to just accumulate and summarise my overall experience. My trip to Hong Kong & Macau was really fulfilling and I certainly gained a lot of experience. This trip was unique because it is the first time that I had to plan the whole itinerary of the whole 1 week trip from where to stay, where to go, what type of transport, what number bus or which colour line of the MTR, etc. There was really a lot of work and I did manage to try to apply what I have learnt in my previous sem to a real case study. I had a hard time of trying to put everything into a proper detailed itinerary with timing, what time to wake up,etc. It wasn't really very easy because my sis totally just throw me this task expecting me to know all the skills. The trip did went like very well on the 1st and 2nd day because I was really cautious and afraid to make all possible mistakes but the sequence day I start to slack a bit and became rather blur at the end. I went to a lot of places and get to see and experience a lot of stuff. I went to like Ocean Park, Ladies Street, Shen Zhen, Victoria Peak. There wasn't so much of the shopping that was always advertised on the TV but the view, cultural and other things was pretty alright.Overall, I had a wonderful trip and I would really love to return to Hong Kong to explore the other parts because this trip was concentrated on Kowloon.
Hong Kong (8 Jun- 15 Jun) Day 1
Thursday, June 18, 2009 3:11 PM
This trip, was solely planned out by me, Yvonne (HAHA!) & it really gives me a lot of learning experience of planning a 8 days, 7 nights trip in just 4 days.. ^^
At the very beginning, dunno should say we (my sis, my mum & me) were too excited or what, we even mixed up the airline we're supposed to take.. We took Tiger Airways at The Budget Terminal, flight is at 11.30am & we had MacDonalds breakfast before flying.. When on the flight, i found it hard to really relax/sleep even though i only had 4 hours of sleep the day before.. I keep going through the itineraries that i've planned many times, just to check if i've missed out anything..
At around 3.40pm, we've reached Macau International Airport & we face the first difficulty; getting a bus to Wynn Macau & we were like keep walking around & around, trying to decide what to do.. becoz we didn't see the shuttle bus as mention by my brother.. In the end, we asked one of the staff in the airport & took a public bus which cost us abt HKD$4.20/pax (around SGD$0.80) to Wynn Macau.. From there, we then walk to the bronze Buddha Status by the sea, we were sort of a bit of struggling with reading the map; trying to figure out whether we are looking at the correct direction & also ask my mum to ask the locals the direction in Cantonese..
At least we reached the Buddha status at around 5pm, took several pictures, buy a cup of bubble tea which cost HKD$25 (around SGD$4.80) which considered very expensive & walk to our Hotel (Metropark Hotel).. We did found that street & area but, we faced with the 2nd difficulty of the day which is finding the exact place.. Becoz the whole area, all buildings look exactly like one another; this includes the hotel too.. We had a hard time finding it, even though we asked the locals (they were not sure either), so we just based on our luck & instinct.. When we finally found it, we were like, "OMG, we walked past this area before lor.. Just that their signboard was like damn "big", that we cannot see, -_-"' ... haha..
After putting our luggage & settle our things, we took a bus to Av. Almeida Ribeiro (新马路), which is an area where there's a lot of shopping, food & historical place concentrated at.. We ate our lunch + dinner there & went to the famous historical place; Ruins of St. Paul's... After all sight- seeing, we actually walk back to hotel & then rest for the day for my mum & sis, i still have to check & plan the itinerary again coz tmr we are taking the ferry to HK.. haiz.. it's a hard work man...http://s68.photobucket.com/albums/i40/snowblue13/
Tioman Island; Genting Village Part 2
Thursday, April 2, 2009 11:25 PM
Day 2: We have Nasi Lemak & white bread for breakfast & then we set off to start snorkelling for the day.. I was quite worry & scare when i'm on board, nt coz that i'm seasick but it's that i have no water confidence (like Fae said).. It's like we will be in the middle of nowhere of the very very deep sea to snorkel & i dunno how to swim at all! -_-"'... i was feeling sort of like OMG, if my time is up, then i... haha.. just think abt negative of what will happen lah; insecure.. ok.. then when we reached the Northen part of Tioman to snorkel, everyone else jumped off the boat easily.. In the end, only left Mai, MinXing & me to jump, so the 3 of us hold hands together & jumped! There's really a second that i thought i would die but then... i float up coz of the life vest.. haha.. ok.. the first step is snorkel is really a big big challenge to me.. i had to keep talking to myself & Fae on how to keep myself alive, moving & starting.. haha.. i think i spend quite a lot of time doing that... then slowly got the hook of snorkel & trying to move/"swim" in the sea but i still keep on holding onto Fae's life vest for support & sense of security.. I also will try to hold on to other ppl like Shirin, Syahmi & Wei Siang (Thanks to you guys).. I was really very excited & amazed to see the fishes & enjoyed snorkelling.. It's just a pity that we didn't get to see sharks, turtle & sotong.. i also feel very bad that i somewhat "harm" Fae couldn't enjoy the activity that much.. haiz, i know i'm troublesome & i hate this to happen.. although i couldn't swim, the enthusiasm to snorkel didn't stop.. haha.. This trip has really made me to be more determined to learn swimming le but i know i'm a slower & over age learner so it somewhat stops me a bit for learning.. haha.. After snorkelling till about 3.30pm, we went back to Island Reef Resort, tanned & rest a while to prepare for another snorkel at 5pm.. But coz 6 person plus Ken will swim over to a nearby beach, i "harm" Fae again, missing the fun again coz i can only walk & she decides to walk there with me.. In the end, the 6 of them enjoy seeing stuff while swimming to the beach & totally like forget that Fae & me are still on the beach waiting.. We waited till like around 6pm plus then Fae & I was struggling to go into the open sea to join them but in the end didn't succeed coz we then know time is almost up & the both of us were in pain & scared too.. coz the beach area was mostly rocks & dead corals.. Everywhere we stepped towards the sea also seems wrong & Fae was also worried that there might be stonefish..In the end when Fae & I know that time to go back le, we struggled again trying to get back to the shore.. haha, coz of those dead corals around.. As it was low tide at that time, it's like we seem like quite deep in the sea but i could still stand & touch the seabed.. it's tiring in the sense that to me it's quite dumb that you can stand but need to keep bending down to snorkel a bit to ensure that the place that we step on is safe.. I gt so sick & tired of doing so that i just stand up & walk, nt caring what i stepping on.. And my end result for doing so, is getting a cut on my knee.. haha.. nvm lah.. The night activity is then FISHING!! haha.. i've nv done that before, but i also didn't dare to try.. haha, coz i watched too much cartoon on fishing accidents.. The funniest part was that when it was Wei Siang's turn to try, he actually lose the line, hook & bait too.. Haha.. he said he used too much strength but i dun believe.. Haha.. i also see how ppl also fish for sotong.. Ronnie was very kind that he let us played Fireworks (illegal in S'pore).. haha.. it was my first time seeing how ppl do it & it's really so damn cool.. haha.. So, in the end we had 8/9 fishes (i forgot the name of the species but i know it's the bigger version of the Nasi Lemak fish).. So, we went to the bar to let Coco to fried the fish for us & then Nigel, Wei Siang & me ordered Margarita (a liquor).. haha.. it's my first time drinking liquor with my friend.. haha.. After that we went back to our room & we were supposed to go to the guys room again to finish up all the tidbits.. In the end, i didn't go into their room but go back to my room to sleep.. Coz Nigel was up to his evil plot to matchmaking le.. It really sucks lor! To me, somethings cannot force de, i rather let nature to take its own course.. What's more it nt only "troubles" me in a way, it also a kind of like cause embarrassment to Wei Siang also lor.. i think now the both of us are friends, are also gd in a way what.. Apart of that stupid thing, i'm happy that at least i can star- gaze at night, it's really nice to see that lot of stars.. ^^Day 3: We slept till about 8.45am then we pack our stuff & go for breakfast.. Breakfast took us abt 1/ 2 hr? haha.. coz we were chatting on a lot of different issues especially gossipping.. Then we went back to the room to do final packing, collection of $$ & returning of equipments.. Ronnie was kind to give us 2 bottles of his hand- made Lime- plum juice.. it's really nice & refreshing!! haha.. Then before we left we chat a lot with Ronnie, Roseanne & Ken while waiting for the ferry & our King & Special Ramily Burger.. HAHA.. It's really sad to leave & we even thought of staying over another night coz we have extra clothes.. haha.. But we couldn't lah, we know all we'll be back AGAIN!! ^^
Tioman (30 Mar- 1 Apr) 1
Wednesday, April 1, 2009 10:51 PM
Oh.. yeah.. Just came back from Tioman today.. haha.. I'm really happy that i joined the grp & have enjoyed myself thoroughly for the past 3 days 2 night.. hehe.. The beginning to the end is really nice & enjoyable.. I've never gone to such holiday & have the urge to go back there again..
Day 1: We meet at 5.40am at Bukit Timah Plaza's Taxi Stand & we actually board the bus only at 6.30am.. Meanwhile, we took 2 pictures, talk crap & keep calling WTS emergency number.. haha.. still can rmb Faezah say the 1st person sounds like Wei Siang & the 2nd time Syahmi speak like a "businessman".. haha.. Then we took approximately a 3 hr bus & 1 hr 30 mins ferry ride.. Waiting for the ferry to come & let it start moving is really tiring.. it really loves to drag time & luckily for the whole ferry trip there, i fully entertain myself with the movies.. The place was fantastically beautiful & nice when i reached there; Genting Village.. Ronnie & Roseanne was very welcoming & after we put our stuff at our rooms, we went to have our lunch & then start our 1st practical snorkelling experience nearby.. i was really scare lah, coz i cannot swim & i'm scared of the water lah.. Then at night, the whole grp; Faezah, Wei Siang, Nigel, Syahmi, Peili, Min Xin, Mai, Shirin, Mai's cousin & me, we went to the guy's room to play true/dare when we typically need to actually eat up the tidbits which we didn't at all.. haha.. It's should considered the worst or best true/dare i've played? haha.. Hmm.. i was kissed by Fae on the cheeks (shy lah), then asked whether i will ever date the either 3 guys, do i have any one i like currently & walk like a drunkard woman + laugh.. omg.. haha.. But, overall we had a gd laugh.. ^^
Lights off was at 12am plus? haha.. no teacher, no law, no rules.. hehe..
Days at Hainan 2..
Monday, March 23, 2009 11:04 PM
Day 3: Hmm.. We actually spent more than half of the day to visit the famous; "Nan Hai Guan Yin" which is the Goddess on the Sea that has 3 faces.. It is said to actually protect the Island & bring prosperity to the area especially those seafood & fishermen.. The Goddess is really impressive & the temple that consist of other goddess is also an eye- opener.. the joss stick is also really big & expensive.. haha.. And their smallest or shortest joss stick is actually like our big size here.. haha.. and the small one cost S$10.. haha.. so exp.. lucky i'm a free thinker so i asked my mum nt to get me the set of joss stick coz the whole set actually cost S$60... haha.. Then we had a vegetarian buffet lunch & it's really eat till you crazy.. Haha.. After that we actually wanted to go see their 2 famous stone that symbolise a couple but in the end didn't coz my tour all auntie & they can't stand the sun & walking so i didn't manage to go but take pics outside the attraction.. Then we went to a health rehabilitation centre for foot massage.. And again, the guy who did it was same age as me.. Hmm.. he was there to learn Chinese medication, acupuncture.. I really admire such person who have a dream to pursue.. They already know what they want in future & they are trying to fulfil that, i really envy that..
Day 4: Hmm.. Most of the time i was on the bus sleeping coz we travelled from the south to the north & it takes 3/ 4 hours.. When we reached the final destination, we just had out dinner near the hotel.. After dinner, my mum & me took taxi & went to the shopping centre & shop for stuff.. haha.. And we are the only 2 that were in the tour who went shopping.. HAHA.. ^^
Day 5: Take Tiger Airways Home.. hehe.. ^^.. Wanted to buy the panda soft toy, wanted so much & always.. But, cannot decide coz my mum say go Si Chuan then buy.. -_-"'..
Days at Hainan 1..
10:11 PM
Day 1: The first day when i reached Hainan Dao, the kind of impression of the buildings was: "It looks like JB?!".. haha... yup.. Hmm.. After those buildings & on the way to the town area, the bus passed a lot of rice fields, vegetable fields.. The kind of life really look kind of relaxing, comfortable & slow- pace.. Even the buffalo lay around slacking.. haha.. Hmm.. It looks like slacking to me, coz they really just lay down on the grass & do nth.. haha.. Then i visited one of their beach & just watch & tale pic of 2 piece of stone.. HAHA.. they just meant some kind of legend of them lah.. And for dinner, i ate several of their local delicacy like "Wen Chang Chicken"..
Day 2: It's the start of visiting the attractions.. Hmm.. i went to a place where they actually build some of the main symbols/ icons of the asia countries like S'pore Merlion, India's God, etc.. It's actually quite boring for that coz, it's nt really something new.. haha.. Then i proceed to see the trible "village".. the trible is actually call "Li" Tribute.. i thought it was just like any other tributes that i used to see in Yunnan but then something really stop me from thinking a while & it really etch on my memory even till now..
There's actually a notice board outside a house that states that there's a 18 years old girl who had been living in a vase since she was born.. my first thoughts of seeing this was like, "are you sure?" But, when i really see her, i was really really shocked & i stunned there for a while.. All i can see is relly her head on the vase.. i thought it was something like "magic show" at first then i realized that there was really typically nth that i think she is able to do that.. The vase was put on a table that chinese usually used to put the Goddess Status.. And it really gives me a feeling that there's really no way of a magic show.. She talked really really soft & you need to lip- read what she replied.. I heard the care- taker of her said that because she was deformed (no hand & leg) so their trible believed that such person is a bad omen.. So they decide to put her in the vase, i heard that she can only eat liquid food every 2 days only.. The most shocking thing is that i heard her neck is as thin as a duck's neck.. it's really sad & stunning to know this thing & her image now really just stuck in my mind.. I really regret for nt helping their trible when they tried to sold the souvenirs to us coz i somewhat realized that they are actually very poor & they depend on the few tourist that visit them everyday for survival.. haiz.. it's too late to realize that.. At night, my mum & i then went to massage (Chinese Style) & i realized that the girl who was massaging for me was actually the same age as me.. i really feel that i was so fortunate that i can study, gain knowledge & there they are, already need to start working for their own survival due to "poverty"..

I actually set up this blog is to share my travel experiences & what I'd seen, know & understand.. Hmm.. Recently, after i went to Hainan Dao & i really have the sudden urge to set up this blog & share what i see..
For the past 4, 5 years, i had travel mostly to China with my mum & sis, Angela. So far, I'd travel to: ~ Malaysia; KL, Malacca, Cameron Highland, Tioman Island ~ Vietnam; Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh ~ Thailand; Bangkok ~ China; Guang Zhou, Shen Zhen, Shanghai, Hang Zhou, Su Zhou, Yunnan, Hainan Dao
For all the place that i'd went, must really thank my mum & sis for paying for me & letting me to see the world.. And i'd really learnt a lot through every trip.. Now, although my wish list is to travel around the world just like any other ppl, i'd also wish to live in that area too.. it's really cool & nice to understand other ppl in the world.. Before i could do that, i wish i could also save enough money to travel to places that is outside of Southeast Asia.. ^^
